MU - Machine Unit
The MU (Machine Unit) is located on the vehicle. It integrates a Multimedia Radio Modem, a CPU and a vehicle interface. The MU receives commands from the OU and applies them to the appropriate vehicle component. The status of the vehicle is processed through the proper vehicle instrument and then sent back to the OU. Optional alarms from the DDEC engine can be monitored upon specific requests from the customer.
Standard 2.4 GHz MU

Features and benefits of the MU:
Rugged construction
The MU and vehicle interface modules are specifically designed for use in underground mining environments.

The enclosure is water and pressure resistant (NEMA 4X).

The module is highly resistant to corrosion, dust and vibration

Connectors are military standard (MIL) and cables are PMA protected.

Easily upgradeable
The MU comes standard with built-in functions for easy upgrade. Most SIAMremote add-on options can be installed with only minor software configuration changes in the MU.

CANbus Network - Electronic modules, on the vehicle, are linked together via a CANbus network. Options such as SIAMload and SIAMguidance are easily added to existing systems by connecting new electronic modules to the network.

New sensors - Adding new sensors to the system is easy. Simply add a universal acquisition module (UAM) to the CANbus Network and make a minor software change in the MU.

Video ready MU - With our standard 2.4GHz radio, adding video cameras only requires installation of the cameras with their related brackets and software configuration changes in the MU.

Easy troubleshooting
SIAMremote II instrumentation on the vehicle is designed for easy troubleshooting and repair.

SIAMremote II status light indicator - SIAMremote II has as an option a 3-light status indicator on the vehicle. This indicator tells the operator if the vehicle is ready for remote operation.

Advanced internal diagnostic system - The MU is programmed to continuously monitor the vehicle and the CANbus network component status. With our 2-way digital communication link, diagnostic messages are displayed on the OU. All system input-outputs can be scanned for verification by a technician.

Led status indicators - All electronic modules on the vehicle have led status indicators on the exterior of the housing.

ID key attached to vehicle - Unlike conventional remote control systems, SIAMremote uses a digital ID code that is attached to the vehicle for Remote/Vehicle synchronization. There again, no need to remove everything on the vehicle if one of the vehicle module or the OU is broken. Simply change the faulty module.

Full electrical protection - All outputs are protected against short-circuit and excessive temperature; there are no fuses. There is also open load, output without command and inverse polarity detections.
