Typical SIAMnet Applications

The SIAMnet is compatible with surface communication.  The Head-end can be designed to support Voice & data communication into the mine while supporting Voice communication at the surface.

SCADA computers, that are located on the surface, can communicate with a number of PLCs installed in the mine to control the ventilation system, water pumps, monitor air quality, orepass level measuring systems, seismic activity, traffic lights, etc.

Vehicle position tracking systems, based on the RF tag technology, use the SIAMnet to communicate all the vehicle information to the central computer.

The use of Directional antennas (Yagis) allows communication with the vehicle and the Two-way radio users at a very long distance, without the need of additional cable.

The new commercially available wireless LAN technology may be used underground by attaching "Access Point" modules to the SIAMnet. Consequently, the customer’s laptop or other "Pocket PC" devices can communicate with the central computer without difficulty.

The Cable Modem technology allows the implementation of a powerful Ethernet network inside the mine.  The SIAMnet combines both the 800 Mhz Voice and data technology with the Cable Modem technology.  The SIAMnet supports the DOCSYS 1.1 and 2.0 standards.
